MSing around at home in Prineville,OR

We arrived back home on April 15th and its now the 19th. We are slowly unpacking all the various objects we collected on our journey south this winter.

My initial use for this blog was to keep track of where we had been and how I managed to handle the trip while living with MS.  I succeeded in both avenues-I only had one episode where I felt really fatigued to the point of being down for a couple of days but my wonderful hubby took good care of me and let me rest and be a toad. He also let me go at my own speed but did have to frequently remind me to go at my own pace. He is so much more low key than I am and I get down on myself to get everything done now, rather than later. His attitude is it will get done eventually and no need causing yourself agony over it! How true.

I didn’t have any trouble this year with receiving my Copaxone or other meds as my MD gave me 90 days of meds at a time so I only had to get them refilled twice. Storage is not a problem as Copaxone can be kept under the RV and be cool enough. I did have to request a second injector be sent by the end of the trip as my other one just wore out.

Next year I will be more prepared for the dogs though. After Cleo suffering a bad spider bite I will make sure we have enough antibiotics for a complete course of treatment for an infection. We do have a pretty good first aid kit for them as far as bandages and ointment. We also stock lots of bandaids as I am constantly needing them.  We were lucky with Jerry’s tooth as we did go prepared with meds for that until we could get home. I also never leave home without my Dr. Hoys pain relief gel and ice packs.

I hope I gave some info on w/c accessability for some of the places we went as I always think of that from my own experience using one. I believe everyone should be able to enjoy the National Parks we visited without exception. Some of the boondocking areas we stayed at you have to make your own home and portable ramps would be a great thing to take. We did see lots of people using scooters and w/c’s so they manage to travel with ingenuity. It can be done!

I hope to keep this blog going even while home as we occassionally have funny stories that happen here at the farm. We are just waiting for the Beastie Boys to return, (large deer) but this year we intend on being ready.
